Weddings

Adding something extra to your special day!

Whether as an anticipated part of the celebration or surprise for the wedding guests, an authentic Lion Dance performance is a fantastic way to start the celebration.

This is a loud, colourful, and festive performance which on top of bringing a lot of energy and enthusiasm also allows for amazing photographs with the lion(s) afterwards.

Traditionally a Red Lion is used in weddings to symbolise prosperity, though if that clashes with the day's colour scheme we have several other options as well!

Steeped in Culture

A Wedding Lion Dance is usually performed at the reception and it is a wonderful treat for all of the guests at your wedding.

The Lion is a symbol that represents both bravery and prosperity.
The dance is performed to bestow a blessing upon the newlywed couple and is born from a tradition that chases away evil spirits and bad fortune, showering the new couple and guests with good luck.

Make it Interactive

The second half of a traditional performance can be hugely interactive with guests!

The Lion typically not only tours around the guests, but can give part of the Cheng (prize) to special guests or amazed children.

One great way to make your wedding lion dance much more interactive is to hand out red envelopes to your guests - the lion will eat the envelopes right out of their hands.
Traditionally inside each envelope is a small tip for the Lion, used historically to bring the lion and its associated luck to those presenting the envelopes, however using them for flavour is fine as well (please let us know beforehand either way).
