Team-building Workshops
A lion dance group has to work as a cohesive team, otherwise the performance fails.
We can run workshops with a new and much more physically interactive method to demonstrate effective teambuilding and communication.
The music and lion must be in time with each other - there is no true 'lead' so both parties must be attentive and responsive to each other.
Within the music the drum leads the musical styling, but the gong player keeps the pacing consistent.
Within the lion, the lion head dictates the lion's actions and mannerisms, but must rely on the tail for support when navigating constricted areas and for performing the more auspicious acts.
Those in the lion are also encourages to trade places during a performance to help spread the different physical loads each position has, and this action should be done seamlessly.
All of these requires multi-layered communication and an understanding & appreciation of the different strengths, weaknesses, and requirements of each role.
In the end the whole team must work together to perform even a basic lion dance performance successfully.
